Building Levees

Levees matter.  If you live in a place like New Orleans they REALLY matter.  There are seasons when floods or hurricanes come, and if there is no way to hold out the water, there will be destruction. New Orleans found out their levees were not sufficient with Katrina.  They have spent billions to fix it. And it appears they have weathered Gustav.

We all need levees in our lives.  A system to handle the rising water in our lives.  We need levees for temptation, levees for anxiety, levees for depression, etc.

The only problem with levees is they do not seem necessary when there is no threat.  When you are not under temptation, you see no effort to spend energy on building a system to keep temptation away.  But once the water has flooded you once, you will spend billions to try to fix it.
