Yesterday was an incredible day at NorthWood. We have been implementing what we are calling the “Time of Obedience” for the last two months. It finally feels like we are getting close to the sweet spot.
The Time of Obedience is where at the end of the service, we are giving time and space to let people respond to what God has been speaking to them. We have Alter ministers positioned in 4 places around the room to lead someone to Christ and pray for them, we open the altar for people to come pray by themselves or as a family, we have cards for people to sit and write what God has been doing in their lives, we sing, and yesterday we took communion. It is controlled chaos, but our people are responding to God, and I could not be happier!
If you go to NorthWood, What do you think of the changes?

I love it! Being challenged to have a heart check and really listen to what God wants to teach you each week after the message is beyond incredible. It is so easy to listen to a inspired message and even take notes but then leave when the service is over. Soon you find yourself distracted by fellowship with others or picking up kiddos and forget about the work God was doing in your heart only minutes before. So awesome to see Northwood changing it up and providing a time of obedience!!!
Dude! This sounds so sweet! Glad to hear about success of the controlled chaos!!
we LOVE the change!
It is great the way we are taking it to the next level and really asking everyone to pray for their families and over each other. We are each called-out and asked to abandon our foolish pride and sometimes our comfort level and have an intimate moment with the Lord while in the fellowship of our Church family.
I think it speaks strongly to the new believers in the congregation that wonder what we are all about, and how sincere we are in our worship. Our services are more than some Sunday morning pep-rally or a support group people attend each week just to feel better about themselves and the sins they committed all week. We are there to worship God, fellowship in His name, and to get equipped to go out and further His Kingdom.
I am proud to be a new member of Northwood and look forward to serving along side each and every one of you throughout this wonderful journey. Brent, I pray each day for you, Bob, Randy, Jordan, Matt, and the rest of the Northwood staff. God is continuing to do wonderful things through each of you. Keep up the great work!
@Bill. Thank you for the kind words. Thank you more for your commitment to pray for us. I am glad that God is working in your lives in the services at NW.
